Frankie Dettori hopeful over Golden Horn's stamina

Frankie Dettori is confident that pre-race favourite Golden Horn will last the distance at the Epsom Derby.

Frankie Dettori is hopeful that his mount for this Saturday's Epsom Derby - Golden Horn - will have the stamina to stay the one mile four furlong trip.

Trained by John Gosden, the three-year-old maintained his unbeaten record at York last month, but at Epsom he will be required to run just over an extra two furlongs, which has brought into question his ability to last the distance.

However, 44-year-old Dettori, who won the race back in 2007 on Authorized, is confident that the favourite has the necessary staying power.

"I know what's required to win it and let's hope that Golden Horn can do it," he told 888sport.com

"You can never be 100% sure, but he's got a great temperament and that's his plus side. Until you try you never know, but my gut feeling says yes. He relaxes really well and he's got a good kick."

This race will mark Milan-born Dettori's 20th appearance at the meeting.
