St Helens have edged to a 17-10 victory in a cagey meeting with Hull FC at the KC Stadium in the Super League.
After a closely-fought opening 20 minutes, the defending champions opened the scoring when Louis McCarthy-Scarsbrook kicked the ball forward for Shannon McDonnell.
Leon Pryce made the most of a penalty at the opposite end just before the break though, leaving the home side just two points behind at half time.
Jordan Abdull briefly put Hull back on level terms, squeezing through a gap just short of the hour mark, but Tommy Makinson soon found the line down the other end to restore the Saints' lead.
Jordan Turner put the win beyond doubt inside the final minute, kicking a drop goal to leave St Helens seven points ahead.
The win lifts St Helens back up to second in the table, while Hull sit eighth.
