Wakefield Trinity Wildcats snap up Pita Godinet

Samoan scrum-half Pita Godinet signs a two-year deal with Super League side Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have signed Samoa international Pita Godinet from NRL side New Zealand Warriors.

The 26-year-old scrum-half will arrive at Belle Vue on a two-year deal as a replacement for Tim Smith, who has joined Salfrod Red Devils.

"He is a skilful player and I think he will make a big impact," Sky Sports News quotes coach Richard Agar as saying. "He will also give us cover at six or nine.

"Half-backs are at a premium and it is a difficult time of the season to try and sign new players so I am delighted we have signed him and I certainly think he will add something to our squad.

"Our first enquiry was rebuffed but I think Pita realised that it would be a tremendous opportunity to play in Super League and become an important player for us."

The Warriors signed Godinet to a full-time contract in October 2010.
