Widnes Vikings forward Ben Kavanagh makes Wakefield Trinity Wildcats loan switch

Super League strugglers Wakefield Trinity Wildcats sign Widnes Vikings forward Ben Kavanagh on a loan deal until the end of the campaign.

Widnes Vikings forward Ben Kavanagh has joined Super League strugglers Wakefield Trinity Wildcats on loan until the end of the season.

The Scotland international, 27, has made 10 appearances for the Vikings during the current campaign.

"Ben is just on the edge of our first-team squad so the opportunity to play with the Wakefield team for the remainder of this season will give him the chance to get some regular first-team action," Widnes coach Denis Betts is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

Kavanagh could make his Wildcats debut on Sunday when they host Hull FC in the league.

Wakefield are currently at the bottom of the table following eight consecutive defeats.
