Wigan Warriors edge past Warrington Wolves

Warrington Wolves are defeated 12-4 by Wigan Warriors in the Super League in a repeat of last season's Grand Final.

Wigan Warriors have defeated Warrington Wolves 12-4 in a repeat of last season's Grand Final at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The away side, who came into the clash two places behind their opponents in the Super League table, took the lead with 11 minutes on the clock courtesy of a Liam Farrell try.

Matty Smith further added to the Cherry and Whites' advantage after kicking over on two occasions, giving his side an 8-0 lead at the interval.

It got even better for the Warriors when Blake Green crossed the line to further add to the scoring after 51 minutes, though the lead was cut thanks to Gene Hormsby who found the try line for Wolves with just over an hour played.

The hosts were unable to cut the deficit further, however, and Wigan held out for the victory which lifts them into fifth position in the league.
