Andrew Coombs has admitted that he was "blown away" by the news that he has been named in the Wales squad for the Six Nations.
The 28-year-old Newport Gwent Dragons forward was one of five uncapped players named in the party, but he has revealed that it was "a massive shock".
"It was a massive shock. I was blown away when our coach Darren Edwards told me the good news," he told BBC Sport.
"I knew there was a lot of injuries and they'd be looking at other players to step in and fill the shoes, I didn't think it would be me.
"But things happen and happen for a reason so I can't wait to go."
Wales open their campaign against Ireland on February 2.
