Ronnie O'Sullivan has suffered a 6-5 defeat to Kyren Wilson in the quarter-finals of the UK Championship.
The 45-year-old had been bidding to win the tournament for the eighth time, and he was the overwhelming favourite to lift the trophy on Sunday after a number of big-name exits.
However, in a repeat of the 2020 World Championship final, Wilson got his revenge, establishing a 2-0 lead during the early stages and never finding himself behind in the contest.
While O'Sullivan rallied from 5-3 down to force a decider, the world number five held his nerve to book his spot in the last four.
Wilson will now square off against Luca Brecel, the Belgian having defeated Anthony McGill by a 6-2 scoreline earlier on Friday.
Barry Hawkins, Jack Lisowski, Zhao Xintong and Andy Hicks remain in the opposite side of the draw.
