Cameron McEvoy: 'We were yelling for Australia's girls during relay'

Cameron McEvoy reveals that he and 10 companions cheered on Australia's women's 4x100m relay team as they set a new world record.

Australian swimmer Cameron McEvoy has described how he cheered on his female teammates as they broke records to win the 4x100m freestyle relay at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games last night.

Emma McKeon, Cate Campbell, Melanie Schlanger and Bronte Campbell grabbed a gold medal in 3:30.98 ahead of England and Canada, who claimed silver and bronze respectively.

"There was about 10 of us in the dorm room watching and it was so sick, and we were yelling and everything," McEvoy told reporters.

"A couple of the other sports came over to check out what it was and all that type of stuff, so, I thought it was awesome! Really good."

McEvoy took to the Tollcross pool for the first time in these Games this morning by winning his heat in the 200m freestyle.
