Great Britain's Stephen Milne has secured a fifth-placed finish in the final of the men's 1500m freestyle at the World Swimming Championships in Russia.
Having finished seventh in the 800m final earlier this week, Milne posted a time of 14:58.62 to secure his best placing of the meeting.
Italy's Gregorio Paltrinieri, who set the fastest time in the heats, broke the European record to claim the gold medal, finishing the race in 14:39.67.
America's Connor Jaeger secured the silver, while Ryan Cochrane of Canada finished third to complete the podium.
Even though he had set the third-fastest time in the heats, defending champion Sun Yang of China did not take his place in the final, despite winning gold in the 400m and 800m events earlier in the week.
