England's Fran Halsall: 'Relay girls did a great job to win silver'

England swimmer Fran Halsall hails her teammates after they earned silver in the women's 4x100m medley relay.

England swimmer Fran Halsall has praised the effort of her teammates as they secured silver in the women's 4x100m medley relay on the final day of competition at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Halsall, Siobhan-Marie O'Connor, Sophie Taylor and Lauren Quigley came second to Australia in tonight's showdown, while the men's relay team clinched gold in the final race of the night.

"That was very good fun, and to then watch the boys absolutely smash it up on the last relay was fantastic as well," Halsall told reporters.

"All the girls did a great job and going in the last leg is always a bit tough - going in against Cate, who's absolutely magnificent. I think I went a second-and-a-half faster than I did in my individual. To get a silver medal tonight has been fantastic."

The England swimming team finished the Games with 28 medals.
