Three-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist Liam Tancock has played down the importance of times in the heats after qualifying for the 100m backstroke semi-finals at Glasgow 2014.
The 29-year-old Englishman, who returned to action in January after being sidelined for almost a year with a hip problem, finished second in his heat at Tollcross this morning with a time of 54.51s.
"For me, it's just about getting in there and doing it - make it through the rounds," Tancock told reporters. "No-one remembers what you do in the heats or anything, but for me, I was pleased with that morning swim. [Now, I'll] rest, recover and get ready for the semi tonight."
Tancock, who will also compete in the 50m backstroke, holds the Games record of 53.59s.
