Great Britain have narrowly missed out on a place on the podium in the final of the men's 4x100m medley relay at the World Swimming Championships in Kazan, despite setting a new national record.
The Britons were down in sixth at the end of Chris Walker-Hebborn's opening leg, but Adam Peaty moved the team into the lead with a quick breaststroke stint.
The Americans took the lead during the butterfly as James Guy handed over to Ben Proud with Britain in second, but quick freestyle legs from Australia and France resulted in them both moving ahead on the final length.
The USA took the gold in a time of 3:29.93, just 0.15 seconds clear of Australia, while France finished third, as Fabien Gilot stopped the clock just 0.17 seconds ahead of Proud.
