Welsh swimmer Georgia Davies wants to improve Commonwealth display in Glasgow

Team Wales swimmer Georgia Davies targets more Commonwealth medals at the upcoming Games in Glasgow.

Team Wales swimmer Georgia Davies has set her sights on improving her Commonwealth Games medal haul as she prepares to compete in the event for a second time.

On her Commonwealth debut in Delhi four years ago, Davies won bronze as a teenager in the 50m backstroke and is now hoping to improve on that in Glasgow.

When asked what her expectations were for the upcoming games, Davies told Sports Mole: "I'd really like to improve on my performance from Delhi, where I got a bronze medal in the 50m backstroke. I'd love to get a higher medal than that, and also medal in the 100m as well."

The Welsh swimming team have been set a six-medal swimming target at the Games, and Davies is confident that she and her teammates can do "something special".

"We've got a bigger team than normal and it's one of our stronger teams that we've had as well," she added.

"It's definitely the strongest team that I've been a part of. It's quite exciting for us really because we're only a small little nation but I think we can really do something special this time."

Teammate Jemma Lowe has also expressed her confidence in the Welsh side. The swimming in Glasgow takes place between Thursday, July 24 and Tuesday, July 29.
