Roger Federer has booked his place in the quarter-final of the Cincinnati Open after recovering from a set deficit to beat Tommy Haas.
The Swiss, who has won the competition a record five times, was comprehensively dispatched 6-1 in the first set by his German counterpart.
Haas picked up where he left off, coasting into a 2-0 lead, but the 32-year-old responded well to the threat of elimination and emerged a 7-5 winner to tee up a deciding set.
The duo were all square after the opening six games. However, the world number five kept his hopes of a sixth Cincinnati Open title alive by pulling clear of his opponent, ultimately emerging 6-3 winner in the decider.
Federer could face Rafael Nadal in the last-eight competition.
