Roger Federer has progressed through to the third round of the Cincinnati Masters after beating Phillip Kohlschreiber in straight sets.
The former world number one was making his first hard court appearance of the season, and he moved through to the last 16 with a 6-3 7-6 triumph.
The Swiss player stormed through the opener, losing just five points on his serve to move one away from the next round.
The duo exchanged breaks of serve in the second before the set was concluded on a tie-break, which Federer took 9-7.
The 32-year-old will now play either Marcel Granollers or Tommy Haas in the next round.
