World number one Roger Federer is safely through to the third round of the Cincinnati Open following a routine straight-sets victory over Alex Bogolomov Junior.

The Swiss broke his opponent once to take the opening set 6-3 in just 30 minutes.

The Olympic silver medallist then stormed to a 6-2 win in the second to seal his place in the next round.

Federer will now meet Bernard Tomic in round three after the Australian defeated Brian Baker.
