Denisa Allertova edges past Johanna Konta at French Open

British qualifier Johanna Konta falls to a 7-6 4-6 6-2 defeat against Denisa Allertova in the first round of the French Open.

British qualifier Johanna Konta saw her French Open hopes ended in the first round after a 7-6 4-6 6-2 defeat to Denisa Allertova this evening.

The match was gruelling on both players and their first set lasted 68 minutes, following a mammoth tie-break which was won 19-17 by Allertova.

Konta seemed to recover well from that disappointment and she bounced back to break her opponent twice on the way to a 6-4 win in the second set.

However, Allertova took control in the final set and eased to a 6-2 win to book a meeting with Tsvetana Pironkova in the second round.
