Agnieszka Radwanska loses out to Italy's Sara Errani in the quarter-finals of the French Open.

Last year's beaten finalist Sara Errani reached the semi-finals of the French Open this afternoon, thanks to a 6-4 7-6 win over Agnieszka Radwanska.

Early breaks were exchanged during the opening set as both players found it hard to gain any real momentum. However, the initiative was eventually claimed by Errani, who broke for a 4-3 lead and went on to hold her remaining two service games to take the first set.

Breaks of serve were also a common occurrence during the second set, with a total of eight being made, split evenly between the two players.

As a result, the set went into a tie-break. This time around both Errani and Radwanska produced better form on their serves. Just as she had done in the first set, though, Errani broke late on and served for a spot in the last four at 6-5.

World number four Radwanska survived that point though following a lengthy rally. She went long during the next exchange though and at the second time of asking, Errani was able to advance through to her third Grand Slam semi-final.

She will take on either world number one Serena Williams or Svetlana Kuznetsova for a spot in the final.
