Eugenie Bouchard triumphs over Zarina Diyas in Rome

Eugenie Bouchard ends a poor run of form by defeating Zarina Diyas in the second round of the Italian Open.

Eugenie Bouchard has ended a five-match losing streak by beating Zarina Diyas in round two of the Italian Open.

The world number six will now face either Heather Watson or Carla Suarez Navarro for a place in the last eight.

Bouchard broke early on to take a 2-0 lead in the first set, but Diyas fought back to go 3-2 up. However, the momentum was soon back with the Canadian, who earned two more breaks to take it 6-3.

The former Wimbledon finalist was unstoppable at the start of the second as she raced 5-0 ahead. Diyas then staged a comeback to move within a game of Bouchard, only for the latter to close out the contest 6-3 6-4.
