British number one Andy Murray says that he is eager to build on his US Open victory.

US Open champion Andy Murray has insisted that he is motivated to win more Grand Slams and reach the world number one spot following his victory at Flushing Meadows.

The Scotsman ended his long-awaited hunt for a major title after defeating Novak Djokovic in a five-set thriller last Monday.

"It made me want to get back in the gym and start training hard again," BBC Sport quotes Murray as saying. "When I had lost in big finals before, I hadn't wanted to get back in the gym. I struggled with motivation for a while afterwards."

Murray also picked up an Olympic gold medal at London 2012, beating Roger Federer in the final at Wimbledon this summer.
