Stanislas Wawrinka has progressed to the second round of the Rogers Cup with a 6-1 6-4 win over David Nalbandian.
The Argentine was unable to match Wawrinka in the first set, as the Swiss number two won 100 per cent of his points on first serve and dropped just one game.
Nalbandian put up a better numbers in the second set. However, the 29-year-old struggled with his second serve, which cost him against the world number 17, who finished the match in just 69 minutes.
Wawrinka will now face either qualifier Michael Russell or Spaniard Albert Montanes at Uniprix Stadium.
