Lleyton Hewitt: 'I gave it my all in defeat'

Lleyton Hewitt says that he gave it his all despite losing to Mikhail Youzhny at the US Open.

World number 66 Lleyton Hewitt has no doubts that he gave 100% following his elimination from the US Open.

The Australian slipped to a 6-3 3-6 6-7 6-4 7-5 defeat at the hands of Mikhail Youzhny at Flushing Meadows on Tuesday.

Despite the victory, Hewitt is happy with his performance and believes that he couldn't have done much more to try to win.

"Obviously, it could have gone either way," Hewitt told reporters. "There were a lot of momentum changes right from the start.

"It was hard for both of us to hold our serves at times. In the end, he played the big games well when he needed to. He didn't give me too many cheap errors.

"It's obviously disappointing to lose but I left it all out there, there's not a whole heap more I could have done."

Hewitt won the US Open back in 2001.
