Roger Federer: 'I must make improvements ahead of Wimbledon'

Seven-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer says that he must make improvements to his game before the start of the tournament at SW19 later this month.

Roger Federer has said that he requires rest and time on the practice court ahead of his bid to win an eighth Wimbledon title.

Federer has endured a frustrating 2016 due to injury and on his return, he has suffered semi-final defeats in Stuttgart and Halle to Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev respectively.

The Swiss has acknowledged that back-to-back tournaments was what he required before playing at SW19 but he admits that he must make improvements to his game before trying to win in South London for the first time since 2012.

After losing to Zverev on Saturday, the 34-year-old told reporters: "There are little things that have to fall into place then I will play better and feel better. I hope that happens sooner rather than later.

"I now know what I need to work on in the next 10 days. Clearly I need some rest. It has been intense and busy and that is exactly what I have needed, and at least I have a clear picture if where my game is at and what I need to do."

Federer has lost out to Novak Djokovic in the final on his last two appearances at Wimbledon.
