Watson, ranked 60 in the world, claimed the opening set courtesy of one break of her Croatia-born opponent's serve.

The second set proved to be much more straightforward for the 22-year-old, who broke two more times to win the encounter in one hour and seven minutes.

Watson has never gone beyond the third round at SW19.
