Jodie Stimpson has won England's first gold medal of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the women's triathlon.
The 25-year-old ran away from Canada's Kirsten Sweetland and teammate Vicky Holland, who claimed bronze, in the closing stages to post a winning time of 1:58.56.

Holland led after a strong cycling leg, but Stimpson, who was runner-up in the World Championships last year and one of the pre-race favourites, soon edged in front of her compatriot and never surrendered her lead.
Sweetland and Emma Jackson of Australia joined Stimpson in the front group, and as Jackson fell off the pace along with Andrea Hewitt of New Zealand and Northern Ireland's Aileen Reid, Holland regained ground.
The eventual medallists stretched clear, and in bright and warm conditions in Scotland, it was Stimpson who kicked on to cross the line first and become the first champion of the Glasgow Games.
