The coach of Croatia's women's volleyball team has said that injuries in the run-up to the European Games in Baku have hindered the side.
Croatia lost their opening match of the competition in Pool B against Serbia 3-0 earlier today.
Angelo Vercesi told reporters: "[The Croatian federation] put the points for the European Games, but at the last moment we had some problems with our most important players. They had some injuries at their [domestic] clubs so it was not possible for them to be here.
"We have brought some younger players [instead], so now we try to do our best, but we are at a big risk of losing too many points in the rankings because of our young team."
Croatia are in action again on Monday when they face the Netherlands.
