The Russian skiing federation filed an appeal to review results of the men's skiathlon competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics, according to a report.
Russia Today reports that Russia stated that Martin Johnsrud Sundby had pushed home favourite Maxim Vylegzhanin in the drive to the finish line.
It was claimed that this action meant that the 31-year-old Russian finished just one tenth of a second behind Sundby and lost the bronze medal to the Norwegian.
However, the Olympic appeals commission rejected Russia's request to review Sunday's results in the event, but agreed to issue a warning to Sundby. However, it did not strip him of his medal.
Dario Cologna of Switzerland won gold in the event, while Sweden's Marcus Hellner came in second.
