Steve Keim has been named as the new general manager of the Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals confirmed that the vice president of player personnel will take over the role, following the sacking of Rod Graves last week.
Keim told the team's website: "I truly believe this is a retool and not a rebuild.
"I think we have some pieces in place, but the ability to run the ball consistently and the level of physicality, that's a huge issue and that needs to be fixed.
"We want to make sure that this community, this organisation, we buy in and we will make sure this team is as competitive as we can be."
The Cardinals also fired head coach Ken Whisenhunt and a number of assistants after the side finished last in the NFC West.
