The Baltimore Ravens have confirmed that tight end Dennis Pitta has been ruled out of the rest of the 2014 season.
The 29-year-old sustained a dislocated hip in the second quarter of his side's 23-21 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday as he caught a pass and attempted to run downfield.
Pitta had surgery to amend the problem on Monday, but will now miss the rest of the campaign as a result of the operation.
The veteran sustained the same injury during training camp before the 2013 season and was limited to just four matches in the last campaign.
Pitta had caught 16 passes for 125 yards this season, but had failed to score a touchdown.
