Joe Lombardi has said that he will be looking for "well-rounded" tight ends at the Detroit Lions.
The former New Orleans Saints quarterbacks coach has been appointed as the new offensive coordinator at the NFC North side.
Lombardi told the Detroit Free Press: "I think it's important to have a guy that can block at the point of attack. That's important. And then you want a guy that can be a pass receiver, so you're always looking for those well-rounded guys.
"But again, I've never been in the mode of I wanted to find exactly what this player is and then you have to go find him for me. Go find the best player you can."
Brandon Pettigrew, who will become a free agent next month, had 416 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 2013, while rookie Joseph Fauria had 207 yards and seven touchdowns.
