Detroit Lions quarterback Matt Stafford has revealed that he is not paying any attention to the criticism of his play by the media following a poor end to the 2013 season.
The Lions dropped from 6-3 to end the year 7-9, which saw head coach Jim Schwartz lose his job and be replaced by Jim Caldwell, while Stafford came under scrutiny for several high-profile mistakes late in the campaign.
"[You] learn not to pay attention to everything," Stafford told MLive.com.
"Obviously, there are a lot of things that are written. You guys got to fill the papers up, fill the airwaves, and I understand that. But football is on the field.
"There's definitely room for improvement, not only for myself but as a team. That's what this time of year is about. Going out there and working on yourself. Getting to know your new teammates, new coaches, new system."
Stafford threw for 4,560 yards along with 29 touchdowns to 19 interceptions in the 2013 season.
