Brian Cushing nearing end of knee injury recovery

Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing says that he is around a month away from completing his rehab from a knee ligament tear.

Brian Cushing has said that he is around a month from completing his rehabilitation from a lateral collateral ligament tear.

The Houston Texans linebacker sustained the knee injury and broke his leg during the team's defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs midway through the 2013 NFL season.

The 27-year-old told the team's official website: "I'm probably about a month away from being fully 100%. I've already started running on the field and I just feel great. I feel great physically, I feel great mentally, seeing that light at the end of the tunnel. It's so much earlier this year than last year.

"There's so much uncertainty going into camp, being really anxious about my health, about my knee, my contract situation, my future with the team, all that, but all that's taken care of itself and now I have a month left.

"I'm going to be pretty much full go by the time OTAs come around and I'm really excited to get into this whole program with the new staff."

Before sustaining the injury, Cushing had led the team with 65 tackles, 1.5 sacks and an interception.
