Andrew Luck happy with match-winning touchdown

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck reveals that his match-winning touchdown against the Oakland Raiders was an impromptu decision.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has revealed that his match-winning touchdown against the Oakland Raiders was not a planned move but an impromptu decision on his part.

The Colts were surprisingly trailing the Raiders in the last quarter until Luck set off on a 19-yard touchdown run with just over five minutes left on the clock to secure a 21-17 victory.

The second-year quarterback initially set off on the run aiming for a first down but praised the efforts of Darius Heyward-Bey in particular for clearing him a path to the end zone.

"I went through my reads. As you're sort of stepping up you sort of realize, 'Hey man, there's no one here,'" Luck told The AP.

"That decision is like, 'OK, I can make the first down.' Then you start running and it's, 'OK, let's go for the end zone.'

"Sometimes when it just opens up like that, you can't help but go. I knew I wanted the first down if I took off. Then Darius did a great job of coming out of his route and just pinning the guy, blocking his man in. A nice lane into the end zone."

The win was the Colts' first on the opening day of the NFL season since 2009.
