Toby Gerhart has said that he can be a "dominant guy" at running back for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The running back joined the AFC South side last month, having spent his first four seasons in the NFL as backup to Adrian Peterson at the Minnesota Vikings.
The 27-year-old told the Florida Times-Union: "I had the skill set to be a starter from the onset, but I was playing behind one of the best in the game.
"I've gotten comfortable with the speed of the game, but don't have the wear and tear on my body of someone carrying it 250 times a year.
"I think I'm in a unique situation. Even though it's my fifth year in the league, I can come in and be a dominant guy. I'm ready for my shot now."
Gerhart made 36 carries for 283 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 2013.
