Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner has revealed that he tried to sign quarterback Matt Cassel when he was with the Cleveland Browns.
Turner served as the Browns' OC for the 2013 campaign and wanted the veteran signal caller to compete with Brandon Weeden for the starting job at the club.
As it was, Cleveland signed Jason Campbell instead, but just a year on Turner will now get the opportunity to work with Cassel at the Vikings.
"I think that would have been at the time a good move for us," Turner told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I gave my evaluation. I thought he would have fit. Sometimes it works out, and sometimes it doesn't."
Cassel threw for 1,807 yards along with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions for the Vikings last season.
