New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has admitted that running back LaGarrette Blount "carried" his side for much of their match against the Buffalo Bills last night.
Blount had 24 carries for 189 yards and two touchdowns to help his side to a 34-20 win in a match that saw the Patriots focus on their running game due to the wet conditions.
The result ensured that they ended the regular season with a perfect record at home, and Belichick was in no doubt who was most to thank for their victory.
"He carried the team on his back most of the day. [The rain] got worse as the game went along. It was definitely a running game," Belichick told The AP.
The Patriots secured a first-round bye in the playoffs with the win, meaning that their opening game of the post-season will not take place until January 11.
