New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has admitted that the best part of agreeing a new four-year deal is being able to continue to play with quarterback Tom Brady.
Edelman tested the free agency for a few days, but said that he could not turn down the option for long-term security with the franchise at which he has spent his whole career so far.
"It would be very tough to leave [Tom Brady] because he is my dawg," the club's official website quotes him as saying. "It's good to have a little security and knowing that a team believes in you enough to pay you that kind of stuff, and a little security on how many years I'll be here.
"I've really never been in that situation. I've always felt like if I had a bad practice, I could potentially get cut the next day. It's good to be back with this franchise. It's a surreal moment."
Edelman had his most productive season in 2013, totalling 1,056 yards.
