The New England Patriots have had their training facility and away dressing room treated against MRSA following a visit from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers travelled to New England for joint practice and scrimmages with the Patriots two weeks ago before taking part in a pre-season match on August 16.
Since then, two Buccaneers players have been struck down with an MRSA infection, raising concerns for the Patriots that a similar outbreak may hit their squad.
None of their players have reported symptoms, but they have had the visiting changing room at their Gillette Stadium and the training equipment that the Buccaneers used professional sanitised as a precaution.
Buccaneers duo Lawrence Tynes and Carl Nicks are undergoing treatment for the infection, with coach Greg Schiano saying that they are "responding well".
