New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie has said that he expects to be a salary cap casualty of the franchise this off-season.
The 29-year-old has previously stated that he wanted to end his career with the Jets, but is now unsure if he will be afforded that opportunity.
Cromartie recently revealed that he might require surgery to fix knee and hip injuries which hindered his form this season.
On Wednesday, he told reporters: "I think I will be cut, just because my cap number is very high and I had one of the worst seasons of my career this past year.
"I was banged up. I got hurt in Week two, but that's not an excuse. If I'm going to go out and go play every single week, I expect for myself to be playing at a high level and my teammates and my organization expects for me to be playing at a high level, so I never make excuses.
"I just had a bad year. And that falls heavily on me and no one else."
If the Jets decide to hold on to Cromartie, it is likely that he will need to restructure his contract, which is due to pay him a $5m (£3m) bonus in March.
