The New York Jets have confirmed that they have placed quarterback Mark Sanchez on their injured reserve - designated to return list.
Sanchez sustained a shoulder injury during the third quarter of his side's pre-season clash with the New York Giants.
Head coach Rex Ryan ruled the 26-year-old out of the first two games of the season as rookie Geno Smith replaced him as the Jets' starter.
As a result of being placed on the list, Sanchez will not be able to return to action until week 11 on November 17.
The Jets have started the season 1-1 with Smith as their quarterback.
