Touchdowns from Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall helped the New York Jets to a 20-7 victory at the Indianapolis Colts in their NFL second round fixture.
The New York Jets settled into the match quickly, and opened the scoring with over six minutes remaining in the first quarter when Ryan Fitzpatrick found Decker in the centre of the endzone for the game's first touchdown. Nick Folk converted, and the Jets had a 7-0 lead.
Indianapolis had a chance to get onto the scoreboard soon after, but Adam Vinatieri missed a 29-yard field goal attempt.
In the second quarter the Jets extended their lead to 10 points, as Folk's 32-yard field goal attempt was successful, before the New York kicker missed another opportunity for three points just before half time.
After the break the Colts tried to find a breakthrough, and with five minutes remaining in the third quarter Frank Gore drove for a touchdown, but the running back fumbled the ball before reaching the endzone.
Indianapolis finally found a way into the match in the final quarter, as quarterback Andrew Luck found Donte Moncrief, who ran 20 yards before reaching the endzone for the Colts' first points of the match. Vinatieri added the conversion, and the Jets' lead was cut to just three points.
New York responded well though, and with 6:20 remaining in the final quarter Marshall used his strength to hold off three Colts tacklers and score the Jets' second touchdown of the match, which was converted for a 17-7 lead.
With just over a minute of the match remaining the Jets ended any hopes of an Indianapolis comeback as Folk scored a 46-yard field goal to win the match 20-7.
