Pittsburgh Steelers team president Art Rooney II has stated that he is hopeful safety Troy Polamalu will end his career with the franchise.
The 2003 Draft pick was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 and is considered by many as one of the best to ever play the game in his position.
Injuries have hampered him over the past few seasons, but that has not stopped Rooney from confessing that he hopes the player will stay.
"How we structure or restructure Troy's contract is something we will look at in the next few months," Rooney told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "There are a lot of pieces to the puzzle, but I certainly expect Troy will be one of the pieces to that puzzle. He's obviously been one of the great Steelers of all time."
Last week, Rooney said similar things about the future of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
The 32-year-old is in line to make $8.25m (£5m) with the Steelers in 2014, which is the final year of his contract.
