The San Diego Chargers have announced that they have promoted quarterbacks coach Frank Reich to the position of offensive coordinator.
Reich was the favourite to replace Ken Whisenhunt in the role, who left the club to become the head coach of the Tennessee Titans after just one year with the Chargers.
"With Frank as offensive coordinator, we will be able to maintain continuity on offense and help maximize the production by Philip and the entire unit," head coach Mike McCoy said in a statement.
"He has a great feel for the offense we have created and he has been a valuable asset to Philip and all of the quarterbacks."
The Chargers reached the divisional round of the AFC playoffs before they were defeated by the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
