Colt McCoy has confirmed that he will have an MRI scan on his shoulder later today, after sustaining an injury during the San Francisco 49ers' pre-season loss to the Denver Broncos.
The quarterback, who was acquired by the NFC West side in a trade with the Cleveland Browns earlier this year, picked up the injury in the first half of the tie, shortly before being replaced by Scott Tolzien.
The 26-year-old insists that the scan is just a precaution, although it is not known when he will return to the team's practices.
McCoy has been competing with Tolzien during training camp to be Colin Kaepernick's backup.
