Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Michael Bennett has admitted that even though he would like to stay with the club in 2014 he is not keen to take a pay cut.

Bennett said that taking a lower-paid but longer contract would, to him, be the same as taking a pay cut and he wants to earn the same as other players that he considers on his level.

"That would be taking a pay cut, to me," the Seattle Times quotes Bennett as saying. "I had to prove myself as a player back to back years.

"Basically I took a one year deal the year before, did a first round tender in Tampa, so I definitely just want to be paid, you know, I'm not trying to be the highest paid guy but I want to be compensated with the top guys."

Bennett started three of the Seahawks' 16 regular season games in 2013.
