Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Golden Tate has conceded that he would take a hit to his wages if it meant remaining with the franchise next season.

Tate enjoyed an impressive campaign with the Seahawks, recording career highs in both receptions and yards as his team went all the way to win the Super Bowl.

In the aftermath of the victory, however, talk has turned to the retaining of players past their current deals, with Tate reportedly one of the names that Seattle are keen to hang on to.

He told KJR-AM Radio: "I probably shouldn't even say this right now, but I'm going to say it anyway just because I love Seattle. Honestly, I would rather take a little less money to be happy and win ballgames than to take way more and go to a crappy city where the fans don't give a crap about the team.

"Somewhere where you win a game once a month or something like that - no way. I'd much rather stay in the situation that I have now for a little less than to go and try to break the bank somewhere else.

"We finally have something special in Seattle and I'd love to be in this city still."

With Percy Harvin looking likely to make a full recovery from a hip injury which sidelined him this season, Sidney Rice is expected to depart the franchise to allow Tate to become the second choice wideout.
