Germany's canoeing joy continues with men's C1 gold

Germany take their second canoeing gold medal of the day at the European Games, as Sebastian Brendal wins the men's (C1) 1,000m at the Kur Sport and Rowing Centre.

Germany's impressive showing in the men's canoeing at the inaugural European Games has continued, courtesy of Sebastian Brendal's success in the single (C1) 1,000m event in Mingachevir.

The 2012 Olympic gold medallist edged out the chasing pack with a time of 3:50.147 at the Kur Sport and Rowing Centre, to build on compatriot Max Hoff's earlier triumph in the (K1) 1,000m discipline.

Martin Fuksa of the Czech Republic crossed over in 3:51.110 to take silver, while Hungary's Attila Vajda claimed the bronze medal.

Germany are now sixth in the overall standings at Baku 2015, with four medals to their name in all, including the two golds won in this morning's canoeing events.
