Jasprit Bumrah produces one of his best performances in the Test arena to put India in control of the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam.

India have reached stumps on day two of the second Test against England with a lead of 171 after an outstanding bowling performance from Jasprit Bumrah.

England would have been delighted to have restricted India to 396 all out after Yashasvi Jaiswal's magnificent 209, but Bumrah ensured that the tourists remained as huge underdogs to move into a 2-0 series lead.

The pace bowler took 6-45 as England were 253 all out, before India returned at the end of the day to progress the game with 28-0 from five overs.

At the start of Saturday's play, all eyes were on Jaiswal to see if he could record the 21 runs required to reach his first double-ton in Test cricket.

He wasted little time in delivering on that front, hitting a further two more fours and sixes to eventually post 209 from just 290 balls.

James Anderson (3-47) took the wickets of Ravichandran Ashwin (20) and Jaiswal before Rehan Ahmed (3-65) and Shoaib Bashir (3-138) both took wickets of their own to keep India below 400.

Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett led the England response with an opening stand of 59 before Duckett was dismissed for 21, and it was then when Bumrah decided to take centre stage.

After Crawley's 76 from 78 was brought to an end by Axar Patel, Bumrah produced an unplayable delivery to bowl Ollie Pope (23) and backed that up with the wickets of Joe Root (5) and Jonny Bairstow (25).

Ben Stokes made a resilient 47 from 54 deliveries before he suffered the same fate as Pope, before Tom Hartley became Bumrah's fifth victim but only after a valuable 21.

Anderson (6) and Bashir (8*) stuck around at the end, putting on 19 runs before Bumrah trapped Anderson in front of his stumps, and India solidified their advantage through Jaiswal (15*) and Rohit Sharma (13*) advancing the score in the closing 20 minutes of the day.
