James Foster loses Essex captaincy

Wicketkeeper James Foster loses the Essex captaincy, but he is still offered a new contract to continue his career at the County Ground.

Essex have confirmed that James Foster is no longer the county's captain.

The 35-year-old had held the position for the last five years.

However, despite the fact that he has been offered a new contract to remain at the County Ground, the club have revealed that he will not be leading the team going forward.

"The club would like to thank James for his service as captain over the last five years and look forward to him being a major part of Essex's future," read a statement on the club's official website.

Wicketkeeper Foster made his debut for Essex 15 years ago.
