A shoulder injury has forced Mark Cavendish to withdraw from the upcoming UCI World Road Race Championships.
Cavendish sustained the injury during the sixth stage of the Tour of Britain, and after failing to train since the fall, the 30-year-old has opted to pull out of the race in Virginia.
Absolutely devastated to have to pull out of the #Richmond2015 World Champs next week due to my shoulder injury sustained last week.

Earlier this week, fellow British cyclist Geraint Thomas also withdrew after revealing that he did not feel "physically" ready to be competitive in the United States.
